Portia Lee James DeGeneres (also called Portia de Rossi) is a famous Australian as well as an American actor, model and philanthropist. At the age of 15 she officially changed her name and adopted her Italian name "de Rossi" which was glamorous. The name she chose was "Portia" of Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice. Portia believes it's the most daring thing she's ever done. The actress said her personal struggle with her sexuality was what prompted her to choose the name. Portia has made her debut in film by appearing in the romantic-comedy drama movie 'Sirens,' appearing alongside Hugh Grant. Portia has appeared in a variety of American television movies, which include "Too Something," "Nick Freno's Licensed Teacher and Arrested Development", and Better Off Ted.
